
Dr. Edward Hallowell is best known as the author of Driven to Distraction a book that explains, in lay terms, ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder). Each chapter helps you determine if you might have ADD as well as suggests how you could better cope and thrive with the disorder.
ADD, in my opinion, is over diagnosed by professionals and amateurs alike. Everyone seems to have it, and everyone’s got a pill to deal with it. Let’s start with a simple but important idea on earning a promotion. You must earn the next level, title change, and/or increase in compensation. No one owes it to you, and you don’t go to the store to “get” it. That said, there are actions and mindsets that are more likely to move you to where you want to be and deserve. 
Topics in executive coaching get hot, then cold, and sooner or later become popular again. In the past few months the subject of executive presence, a term coined quite some time ago, has surfaced again and is the number one area of interest for my clients. People frequently want it for themselves or those who report to them. The challenge is the term is used in so many ways and situations that one person’s definition ends up being quite different than another’s. When I ask a client, “what would executive presence look like if you had it,” they often say, “I can’t describe it, but I would know it if I saw it.”
