"It (coaching) has also helped me achieve a greater work/life balance, and helped me focus on doing the important things rather than doing it all".
"My coach, Jane, has considerable experience with the challenges facing professional women (and men). She has been an invaluable resource. Coaching has accelerated my personal and professional growth. By giving me a deeper understanding of interpersonal motives and dynamics, coaching has enabled me to communicate more effectively with my colleagues and clients. It has also helped me achieve a greater work/life balance, and helped me focus on doing the important things rather than "doing it all".
-Johna Till Johnson, President, Chief Research Officer, Nemertes Research
"I value her expertise in working with people whose jobs are in highly creative environments."
"I've worked with Jane for about three years. I value her expertise in working with people whose jobs are in highly creative environments. Personally, I find her advice on how to deal with the periodic and inevitable work overloads (how to feel good and know you are making progress even when the pile on your desk keeps growing)."
-Dr. Craig Partridge, Chief Scientist and Vice President, BBN Technologies

How will we work together?
Executive coaching is a collaborative effort, a partnership between you - the client, and me - your coach. It is conversational in nature and strictly confidential. Career coaching can sometimes feel like work but it also can be fun.
Coaching fosters a true business relationship: the kind many managers wish we had at their workplace. The big difference is you are the focus. It is almost impossible to have an objective, supportive, confidential relationship in your place of employment. There are too many agendas, people having their own ideas and ambitions, some individuals are not trustworthy and little information is confidential. I don't know about you but I would not go to the IRS for tax advice. Why would anyone rely on, their toxic boss, supervisor, colleagues, HR or friends to direct their career? Sounds risky to me.
The process begins with both of us signing an Executive Coach NY agreement. In addition to the fee and scheduling, we work together to set the goals that are important to you along with the steps required to reach them. We meet on the telephone or in-person in my Midtown Manhattan office in New York City three times a month for a minimum of ninety days, depending on the Coaching Program you select. You will have homework to complete, assignments we have agreed upon in our last session. Executive and Career coaching occurs with the understanding that the agenda is always yours. I act as your guide, when necessary your taskmaster, working from your strengths. With my probing questions I support and challenge your assumptions to keep you on track. I am in your corner at all times, even while I am pushing you or playing devil's advocate. In addition, I provide you with a variety of options and tools such as the MBTI, resume writing, interview questions and answers and networking tips. You will also gain an enhanced coaching experience as a result of my sharing with you my diverse business, professional and life experiences.
Much of the success in coaching depends on a great match between you and your executive coach. Feeling comfortable, supported, acknowledged and confident with your choice of a career coach or career counselor is very important. Take the time to find out more about me: read Get to Know Jane Cranston, also read the page entitled Interview with Jane. I think you will get a clear picture of what I have to offer you, a sense of me and my executive coaching style. Want to know about our results? Take a look at the Client Testimonials. My clients say more than I could ever express and they can be a demanding group.
